Humanitan is an independent research institute studying the relationship between humanity and the institutions that shape public life.
Its work examines how law, governance, technology, economics, and public authority influence human dignity, legitimacy, accountability, and the long-term wellbeing of societies.

About Humanitan

Why Humanitan Exists

Human civilization has produced law, rights, constitutional principles, ethical traditions, scientific knowledge, and public institutions to limit arbitrary power and protect human dignity.

Yet those safeguards are continually tested by governments, corporations, financial interests, and emerging technologies capable of concentrating influence while shifting consequences onto citizens, vulnerable communities, natural systems, and future generations.

Humanitan was established to study this problem.

Its work examines how institutions exercise authority, how legitimacy is earned or lost, and how public systems can evolve without losing sight of the people and living systems they affect.
